Call to Action!!! Help us regain state funding for Waterfront Park!

News and Events
February 8, 2016

To all our friends of Waterfront Park, we could use your help! Please share this information with your friends.

You may recall that all state funding for Waterfront Park operations was removed from the 2014-2015 budget, a loss of nearly 20% of the park’s operating budget.

Bill Griffin from the bridgeThe budget process for 2016-2017 is underway in Frankfort. Please call the Legislative Message Line and leave a message for your Senator and Representative (by name - see below for how to find that information). Your legislators need to hear that:
• You would like them to support restoring funding to Louisville Waterfront Park;
• While Waterfront Park might not be in their district, YOU live in their district and are a park user; and
• The park is a big economic generator for the state.

You will need to give your name and address when you call.

Calls to the Message Line are counted and are effective – for every call, your legislator gets a piece of paper with your message on it; the more messages, the more they will pay attention to this issue. If you have friends or relatives that love Waterfront Park, please pass this information along. Every call helps!

The hotline number is 1-800-372-7181. You can find the name of your state senator and representative here.

Every voice helps - please make that call!

National CyberSecurity Awareness Month

News and Events
October 20, 2015

It's National CyberSecurity Awareness Month, and the Louisville Metro CyberSecurity Team has put together some valuable information for you. Two free newsletters are available for download: "Cyber Security - Browsing" and "Cyber Security - Social Networking."

The Internet has become a powerful tool for your daily activities. You use it to search for information, shop online, watch movies and manage your finances. In almost all of these cases, the primary tool you use is a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox. Your browser is, in many ways, your gateway to the Internet. Because so many people around the world use and depend on browsers for their daily Internet activities, your browser is a primary target for cyber attackers. These individuals have developed specialized hacking tools and built malicious websites designed to silently hack into your browser.

Once hacked, attackers quickly gain total control of your computer and all of your information without you knowing. By protecting your browser and using it wisely, you can protect yourself against these threats and safely use the Internet for your daily activities.

Another, more specific use of the internet is to participate in Social Media. Social networking websites allow you to post and share a tremendous amount of information. Not only can you publish basic personal data, but also favorite songs and movies, personal photos and events in your life. The concern is that sharing all this information can harm you if you’re not careful. Remember to be #cyberaware!”

Phase 4 Waterfront Plaza

Waterfront Park Phase 4 Conceptual Master Plan Report available for download

News and Events

The Waterfront Development Corporation recently worked with Metro Council member Cherie Bryant Hamilton, other Metro representatives and community leaders, and design firm MKSK to complete the conceptual master plan for Phase 4 of Waterfront Park, the westward expansion of open space along the downtown banks of the Ohio River.

The Phase 4 site encompasses approximately 22 acres along the banks of the Ohio River from 9th Street to 13th Street (east - west) and from the river bank to Rowan Street (north - south). This site is particularly important in the continuation of community open space along the Ohio River corridor, connecting the downtown core on the eastern edge of the site with the Portland neighborhood and West Louisville bordering the western edge of the site.

Note: The report is in pdf format and is a fairly large download. The page size is 11"x17" and will not translate to a small screen (phone or small tablet). You can download it using this link:
