A 1.5 mile walk that makes a difference in the lives of people affected by Alzheimer's disease. Join the thousands of people nationwide participating in Memory Walk, the largest fundraising event for the disease. There will be sponsor booths, a DJ, refreshments, aerobics, and fun. Memory Walk helps fund programs and services such as help lines, support groups, and educational events.

The Clydesdale Games are a grueling two-day competition in which the region's fittest "large" athletes compete in a variety of workouts. The details of the workouts are not announced until a couple of days before the event. This means that all year long, the athletes are training for a competition whose format is almost completely a mystery.

A short walk could help someone take a life saving step. The 10th Annual Kidney Walk is a fundraiser designed to raise both awareness and dollars for the fight against kidney disease. The walk encircles Waterfront Park and is filled with exciting festivities: entertainment, games, giveaways, and more! The Kidney Walk presents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, the medical communities and general public to celebrate life and support the National Kidney Foundation's mission.

A walk held on the same day in 31 locations across the U.S. There will be kid-friendly activities, walks to accommodate different fitness levels, and light refreshments.

The goal is to raise funds for research and awareness. Little is known about the treatment and many go years with the wrong diagnosis. Research and your support can help.

Chiari Malformations are a set of neurological conditions causing debilitating headaches, neck pain, weakness and numbness in the limbs, balance problems, visual disturbances, and other symptoms. Chiari Malformations are located at the base of the skull. Part of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull into the spinal area.

Please join the thousands of people who will be walking that day to Conquer Chiari!

A 5K Walk/Run to help the Dare to Care Food Bank purchase emergency food supplies for the hungry in Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana. After opening ceremonies, the Walk/Run will proceed across the Second Street Bridge to Indiana and return to Waterfront Park. There will be prizes, a Kid Zone, refreshments, and information booths about the Dare to Care Food Bank and its partners.

Waterfront Heritage Walks with Historian Rick Bell

A series of free walking tours, led by local historian Rick Bell, will explore the history of Louisville’s riverfront and the development of today’s acclaimed Waterfront Park. Beginning at the Belle of Louisville’s landing at the Fourth Street wharf, the 90-minute tours will end at the Lincoln Memorial. Bell will describe the riverfront’s importance to the growth of Louisville from its founding during the American Revolution, through its glory days during the Steamboat Era, to its renaissance as one of the world’s most successful maritime recreational parks.

The tour will start on the wharf in front of the Belle of Louisville and will conclude at the Lincoln Memorial. Free parking is available in the park. A convenient location would be the Green Lot - park and follow the signs to walk to the Belle of Louisville. (see map for locations of the Belle, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Green Lot). The total walking distance from your car, through the tour, and back to your car is approximately 2 miles.

Suggestion: Wear your comfortable walking shoes and bring drinking water and sunscreen.

The Kentucky Derby is billed as the "most exciting two minutes in sports," but the Ken-Ducky Derby is an experience unlike any other. Join us as we dump over 25,000 rubber ducks into the Ohio River - the first place duck gets a 2010 Honda Civic, courtesy of Sam Swope! Adopt your duck at a retail partner around town or at the family festival on September 25th, where there will be live music, children's activities, vendor booths, and more. Proceeds benefit Harbor House, a training and development center for adults with disabilities.

In 2010, Louisville AIDS Walk is celebrating its 18th year of raising funds and awareness in the local fight against HIV/AIDS. Join us for an afternoon of walking, running and live entertainment. We will have a kidzone for the younger ones, complete with inflatables, cotton candy and costumed characters. Enjoy live music, hear special guests, and step out against AIDS! Louisville AIDS Walk - helping local non-profits deliver direct services for people living with HIV/AIDS since 1993.

Admission: Open to all. 5K Run is a $20 registration fee. There is no cost to participate in the Walk and Pet Walk.

Louisville’s most popular after work concert series.  For the ninth year, the Waterfront Development Corporation and Louisville Public Media are working together to offer free concerts on the Harbor Lawn featuring national and local artists.  There is a cash bar and great upscale festival food.  Boat docking is on a first come first served basis. 

Outside alcohol is prohibited. No coolers, no glass & no pets allowed in the event area of the Harbor Lawn and the adjacent children’s play area. For more information, please call 814-6518.  Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.   Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
