The Polar Plunge will attract over 1,000 brave souls who will raise a "bear" minimum of $75 for Special Olympics to earn the right tPolar Plungeo jump into the wintry waters of the Ohio River. The Plunge creates an exciting atmosphere for spectators and an unforgettable experience for those that plunge!

The Polar Plunge is one of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers of the year. The Plunge is a truly unique event and includes a fun, festive atmosphere with food and great prizes. The Plunge works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but with one big twist. Participants still solicit donations to support their effort (a BEAR minimum of $75 to take part), but instead of walking, Polar Bears take a chilly dip into the Ohio River off the docks at Tumbleweed on the River in Louisville. Event website has fundraising & registration details.

Last year, the Polar Plunge raised $375,000 to support the efforts of Special Olympics Kentucky athletes.

Admission: Free for spectators. Those willing to plunge for the athletes of Special Olympics KY need to raise a minimum of $75.
