The Soul Food Festival is an inviting event that highlights the aroma of traditional soul food cooking in the air while bringing together familes and friends in an outdoor social setting for a day of reunion, fellowship and live national award winning entertainment. The festival is presented by The Kinfolks Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose objective is to create platforms from which the general public can come and retrieve life-changing knowledge as it relates to health & wellness, education, housing, financing, business & workforce development.

Proceeds from the Soul Food Festival benefit learning environments with particular focus on under-privileged youth and young adults. The organization provides a positive and safe environment where these young people can come and get the additional tutoring and career education they need in order to stay competitive in today's society.

Admission: $22 general admission; $32 preferred viewing; $55 VIP

The Kentuckiana Pride Festival is the State's largest event focused on the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender (GLBT) community, family and friends. The festival is a two day celebration which features local and national entertainers, businesses, churches and organizations, food and beverages. No outside alcohol, please.

2012 Waterfront Heritage Walks with Historian Rick Bell

This free walking tour, led by local historian Rick Bell, will explore the history of Louisville’s riverfront and the development of today’s acclaimed Waterfront Park. Beginning at the Belle of Louisville’s landing at the Fourth Street wharf, the 90-minute tours will end at the Lincoln Memorial. Bell will describe the riverfront’s importance to the growth of Louisville from its founding during the American Revolution, through its glory days during the Steamboat Era, to its renaissance as one of the world’s most successful maritime recreational parks.

The tour will start on the wharf in front of the Belle of Louisville and will conclude at the Lincoln Memorial. Free parking is available in the park. A convenient location would be the Green Lot - park and follow the signs to walk to the Belle of Louisville. (see map for locations of the Belle, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Green Lot). The total walking distance from your car, through the tour, and back to your car is approximately 2 miles.

Walkers will have an opportunity to purchase Bell's book, Louisville's Waterfront Park - A Riverfront Renaissance, by paying for it at the Belle of Louisville and then collecting it at the end of the tour and having it signed by the author.

Suggestion: Wear your comfortable walking shoes and bring drinking water and sunscreen.

Additional tours will be offered in July, September and October.

2012 marks the eleventh year of Louisville’s most popular after work concert series!  Once again, the Waterfront Development Corporation and Louisville Public Media are working together to offer free concerts on the Big Four Lawn featuring national and local artists.  Concerts take place on the last Wednesday of every month, April through September. There is a cash bar and great upscale festival food.   

Outside food and alcohol are prohibited. No coolers, no glass & no pets allowed in the event area of the Big Four Lawn. For more information, please call 814-6500.  Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. 

Parking: Parking lots are highlighted on this Parking Map. In the park itself, the Blue Parking Lot (Wharf Parking) is paid parking; all other park lots are free. Lots adjacent to the park are paid parking.
